Match Rules

Home

1. Ground-baiting may take place before the start of the match
2. The match starts and ends on the whistle
3. All fish must be weighed in if they are to be counted in the Points system
4. No Dead or Live Baits (fish), Spinners, Boilies or Mini-Boilies to be used
5. 10 minutes are allowed after the whistle if playing a fish
6. 2 keep nets must be available – minimum size 8ft. x 18in – one for silver fish and one for carp. Carp and silver fish must not be mixed in one net.
7. All fish must be landed by the angler; assistance is not allowed
8. Pike and eels may be weighed in
9. Wading into the water is not permitted during the match, except for safety purposes
10. Stones are not permitted in the keep-net as they damage the fish
11. Specimen fish starts at 8oz. when caught during the match. They are counted separate for the purposes of the match specimen as well as in the total weight. Away matches are not included for the specimen.
12. In the event of a tie, the next placing prize money is included and the amount split equally between the 2 anglers
13. One point is awarded for turning up to the match. Match points are determined by the number who fish the match
14. One rod only per angler to be in the water at any one time. Other rods may be set up
15. Barbed hooks may be used
16. During away matches the host club rules apply
17. Golden Peg (when applicable) runs until it is won. Participation (50p) is optional
18. Carp mats are to be used on all big fish and must be brought to all matches
19. If no fish are caught during the match all prize money goes to the fish stocking programme
20. Braid line is not permitted
21. Maximum breaking strain line permitted is 12lb.
22. Maximum hook size is size 4
23. Booked away matches that are not attended will be charged at half price except through illness
24. Juniors are charged at half price for matches except the Open and cannot fish the Pairs.
