Here we go again for another season, and what a season it promises to be.

Thank You
First of all a great big “Thank You” to the minority of club members who turned out on some foul days to assist on the Work Party Sundays. Without the help of these kind souls the lakes would be unfishable. Now, as a result, virtually every peg is fishable by any method, right or left-handed. Thank you to the “chainsaw massacre duo” of Paul Martin and Peter Young - deforestation in an instant - to Linda and Malcolm for organising the work parties and to the other 15 or so members for their monumental efforts. If young Jack Davison could make the effort to wield a hammer and shovel and Dickie Wright with his dodgy back put on his waders, why couldn’t more members do the same?

Heavy-Footed Members
On the downside, some heavy-footed ‘person’ has managed to break a slat in a pallet already (in Peg64), so that ‘somebody’ has now got to fix it before it can be used. If YOU break a pallet, bring some wood, nails and a hammer and fix it - don’t rely on ‘someone’ else to do it. Remember all members of the club are equal and all should accept the same responsibility for their actions.

Away We Go!
Now, why could it be a promising season? Already Peter Young has bagged up from Peg 19 on day1. As well as the 19.5lb Common Carp (see Members Pictures) he had 3 Tench, 8Rudd, 4 Perch and 4 Roach all of good size. Rumours abound about more Tench showing.

On Sunday 4th May, Linda and Malcolm had good Roach, Rudd and hybrids from the back lake (high 30s pegs) with Linda bagging a 1¼ Perch. From the front lake, Paul Breame, fishing in Peg 11 had a bag of over 20lb of silver fish, mainly Perch and Rudd, with a Perch over 1lb and a couple of lovely Rudd to 8-12oz. In addition, reports from ‘carpers’ are that a number of fish in the high teens are showing already and last year’s elusive Perch are showing all over the front lake.
